From raw bar to finished part
Eight controlled stages, from the first look at your drawing to the documents that travel with your parts.

- 01
Enquiry & drawing review

Confirm we understand exactly what you need before we commit to a price or a date.
- Receive 2D drawings and 3D models (PDF, DWG, DXF, STEP, IGES)
- Review dimensions, tolerances, geometric controls, finishes and thread callouts
- Check material grade, heat treatment, plating or coating requirements
- Raise technical queries on unclear features before quoting
- Agree quantities, inspection, documentation and delivery
Hold pointNo quotation is issued until open technical queries are answered.RecordsEnquiry register, drawing revision log, technical query sheet, quotation. - 02
Raw material receiving

Make sure the right material, of the right grade, enters the factory and stays identified.
- Check incoming bar, plate and tube against the purchase order: grade, size, quantity
- Verify the mill test certificate and match the heat number to the material marking
- Inspect for visual defects, straightness and size
- Tag material with grade, heat number and job reference
- Store by grade in designated racks; quarantine anything that does not match
Hold pointMaterial without a matching mill certificate is quarantined and not issued to production.RecordsGoods received note, mill certificate file, heat number register, quarantine log. - 03
Planning & engineering

Turn the drawing into a proven route, programme and set-up before metal is cut.
- Write the process route: operations, sequence, machines and inspection stages
- Programme CNC toolpaths in CAM and verify them in simulation
- Design or select workholding; define datums and work offsets
- Select tooling, cutting data and coolant strategy for the material
- Define the inspection plan and the gauges required at each stage
Hold pointProgrammes are released to the machine only after simulation and engineering sign-off.RecordsRoute card, CNC programme with revision, set-up sheet, tool list, inspection plan. - 04
Material preparation

Prepare blanks that are correctly sized, square and traceable.
- Saw-cut bar and plate to blank size with machining allowance
- Face and square blanks where the first operation needs a true datum
- Deburr cut edges and remove scale where required
- Transfer heat number and job reference to every blank or batch tray
- Stage blanks with the route card at the machine
Hold pointBlank count and identification checked against the route card before issue.RecordsCutting list, material issue slip, route card entry. - 05
CNC production

Machine the part to the drawing, consistently, from the first piece to the last.
- Set workholding and tools; touch off tool lengths and set work offsets
- Run the first-off part and inspect it fully against the drawing
- Release the batch only after first-off approval
- In-process checks at set intervals with micrometers, bore gauges and go/no-go gauges
- Monitor tool wear and adjust offsets to hold size through the batch
Hold pointFirst-off approval before batch production. Production stops on any out-of-tolerance reading.RecordsFirst-off report, in-process check sheet, offset and tool-change log. - 06
Secondary operations & finishing

Complete every feature and finish the drawing calls for, without damaging what is already machined.
- Deburr edges, break sharp corners and clear cross-holes
- Cut or chase threads and fit thread inserts where specified
- Polish, bead-blast or brush to the specified surface finish
- Heat treatment, anodising, plating or painting through controlled subcontract, with certificates returned
- Clean and protect parts between operations
Hold pointSubcontracted finishes checked on return against the order and the finisher's certificate.RecordsRoute card sign-off, subcontract order, heat treatment and coating certificates. - 07
Final inspection

Prove every part conforms to the drawing before it is released.
- Inspect critical dimensions against the drawing and inspection plan
- Check threads with plug and ring gauges; bores and fits with go/no-go gauges
- Measure surface finish where specified
- Visual inspection for burrs, damage and finish defects
- Segregate and label any non-conforming parts
Hold pointBatch released only after final inspection is signed off.RecordsFinal inspection report, dimensional report on request, non-conformance records. - 08
Finished goods & dispatch

Deliver clean, protected, correctly identified parts with their documentation.
- Clean parts and apply rust preventive to ferrous components
- Pack in VCI bags or paper, with separators to prevent part-to-part contact
- Label each pack with part number, drawing revision, quantity and job reference
- Compile the document pack: delivery note, inspection report, material certificates on request
- Final count against the order before dispatch
Hold pointQuantity, labels and documents checked against the order before the consignment leaves.RecordsPacking list, delivery note, dispatch register, document pack copy.
